Prelude to the Loveliest Day

When I telephone her,
My heavy load lightens.
After I talk to her,
I feel joy and peace.

But I get annoyed when I hear:
“Sorry, your account is low;”
“Sorry, a network failure;
You can’t make a call now.”
Bugger, bugger, bugger!
Anger, anger, anger!

Despite the nuisance,
I still feel some peace,
Having her in my thoughts,
Knowing that she transcends
When I miss her presence.
So as I wait for Sunday,
for dear Mother’s Day,
I allow no dismay.
